The competitive intelligence analyst is a member of the Global Competitive Intelligence team, their key responsibilities include managing and executing deliverables that inform internal stakeholders on the competitive environment in key tech verticals including Intelligent Automation and RPA.


There are two key candidate types for this (and the US) role:

“The Business Savvy Technologist”

You could have experience as a Pre-Sales professional, Automation Solution Architect, RPA or full-stack developer, IT consultant, or the like looking to make a change from a pure-play role to a more technical, strategic and holistic job.

“The Researcher/Analyst”

You could be a researcher, competitive intelligence professional or analyst. Key responsibilities would be to create, conduct and manage research and collateral on key competitors through primary & secondary research methodologies & Knowledge Management tools.

“The Business Savvy Technologist”

  • Technically capable of taking complex technologies in the Intelligent Automation space and building & building Automation tools to research strengths and weaknesses for positioning in the fast-growing Intelligent Automation market.
  • Ability to conceptually identify & communicate cross technology strengths and weaknesses in a Intelligent Automation infrastructure.
  • Demonstrable track record of cross-vendor technical competitive analysis, implementation or design, preferably within the field of automation.
  • An inquisitive nature and a desire to understand “how things work”.
  • Ability to find ways to go beyond the obvious sources of information to gain deeper technical and user insights.

“The Researcher/Analyst”

  • Captures opportunities to influence business decisions and strategies consistently.
  • Focuses on relationship building as well as using strong scoping tools to uncover the problem even when not clearly articulated.
  • Owns the building and constant updating of relationship maps to understand the appropriate constituents to focus on.
  • Creates presentations that focus on the insights that are clearly articulated with supporting data where appropriate.
  • Synthesis skills: Takes ownership for stewarding the research team's knowledge base by continuously maintaining platforms on KM and/or collaboration platforms and other loci of knowledge.

  • Consistently develops compelling "so what’s" and actionable "now what’s" for the business.
  • Proactively seeks additional analysis to flesh out findings.
  • Integrates interesting patterns into a cohesive story.
  • Maintains relationships with SMEs within the company and outside who can help with insight generation.
  • Consistently informs research recommendations with a personal point of view.
  • Has business problem solving skills: Reframes requests to maximize their value even when the requests come from difficult constituents.
  • Continues the scoping conversation throughout the project process to test interim findings/insights with the business partner.
  • Is recognized by senior business partners for possessing exceptional business acumen and is proactively sought for advice.
  • Encourages debate around research recommendations and consistently advocates for their point of view.
  • Capable of presenting point of view.
  • Leverages knowledge management tools or research communications to share insights broadly across the organization, with a particular focus on vertical and industry communities.
  • Considers communication preferences and decision maker needs to tailor recommendation communication across audiences.
  • Works with business partners to compile current knowledge and identifies gaps that they need filled in order to make better decisions.



Stakeholder needs include:

  • Measurement of the competitive performance, including revenue and market-share
  • Analysis and understanding of win-loss in competitive deals
  • Enablement of Sales colleagues and Sales enablement teams upon key differentiators in order to get our products to market (supporting with collateral, talking points, win themes, differentiators, pricing strategy).
  • Research and insights on a wide range of market issues, such as emerging technologies and architecture, alliances and acquisitions
  • Support of the product and services organization by running functional and deep technical feature comparison analysis, to bring an understanding of market expectations based on key competitor current and roadmap functionality, the candidate must be able to understand functional and technical perspectives to be effective.
  • Support the Marketing organization with competitive positioning and GTM insights.
